The Grocoff's 113-year-old remodeled historic house achieved 103 percent net positive energy over the past year— despite one of the harshest winters on record. It is expected to be the first cold-climate home to be Net Zero Energy Certified under the strict standards of the International Living Future Institute.
Nellis Air Force Base installed this 14 megawatt solar array in 2007. A second array, planned for installation in 2015, is expected to offset the annual production of about 27,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to taking 136,000 cars off the road over the next 25 years.
