2.  | Do you fund projects internationally? We are only able to fund projects in the United States and China.

3.  | I'm not sure if my project meets your funding guidelines. How can I find out? First, refer to our application guidelines, and visit our program pages to see what type of work we support. If you are still unsure, write a brief letter of inquiry describing the project, its purpose, and the amount you are requesting. You may either email the letter to energyfund@ef.org, or mail it to 1012 Torney Avenue, #1, San Francisco, CA 94129. We will respond to let you know whether a full proposal is warranted.

4.  | How long will it take to receive a response to my inquiry/proposal? It will take approximately four weeks for us to review and respond to inquiries and proposals.

5.  | Do you have specific deadlines for proposal submission? There are no specific deadlines, however, in order to consider a proposal for a specific docket, we need to receive proposals approximately 12 weeks in advance of the next board meeting. (Board meetings are held the first week of March, the third week of June, and the first week of November.)

6.  | Do you fund the research and development of technology? (For example, development of new tidal energy technology, innovation in stationary fuel cells, etc.) We are unable to provide support for the research and development of specific technologies.

7.  | I've invented an energy efficient product, and need funding to commercialize it. Can the Energy Foundation help me with this? We are unable to provide support for the commercialization of inventions.

8.  | Do you fund energy-related general education projects? (For example, a documentary film, a radio program focused on energy issues, or an energy-related exhibition.) We are unable to provide support for general education projects, even when the subject is energy-related.

9.  | I'm building/renovating a house, and want to install solar panels and/or energy-efficient appliances. Can you provide funding? The foundation is unable to support the planning, renovation, maintenance, retrofit, or purchase of buildings, or the purchase of equipment, even when the goal is to save energy.

10.  | Do you fund demonstration projects? (For example, a model solar house.) We are unable to provide funding for demonstration projects.

11.  | Where can I go for information about energy efficiency-related rebates/incentives/financing offered in my area? You can visit the Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy at www.dsireusa.org for information on state, local, utility, and selected federal incentives that promote renewable energy. For links to state energy offices, visit http://www.naseo.org/members/states.htm. You may also visit your state or local public utility commission's website to see if any rebates/incentives are offered.
