David Tuft

Program Director, Business and Research

David Tuft leads the Energy Foundation’s work to engage more businesses and industrial energy users to state and national clean-energy policy campaigns. David previously served as a Program Officer for the foundation’s Climate Program. From 2004 to 2007, he was a Campaign Director for the Natural Resources Defense Council, responsible for climate education and outreach efforts. Before that he served as Director of Special Projects at the Breakthrough Technologies Institute, managing a coalition of national advocates on the campaign to clean up non-road diesel engines, and prior to that role he was the Director of Communications for the National Hydropower Association. From 1991 through 1997, David was involved in electoral politics, including the Clinton/Gore ‘92 presidential campaign, managing congressional and statehouse races, and as an analyst in a public opinion polling firm. 

David is a graduate of City University of New York, Hunter College, Honors Program, with a degree in Political Science and Communications.
