Ryan Hodum

Program Director, Southeast Policy

As Program Director, Southeast Policy, Ryan Hodum develops and funds regional and state strategies to achieve climate and clean-energy policy goals. In this work, he engages with policy experts, utilities, clean technology industries, policymakers, funding partners, grantees, allies, opinion leaders, and other stakeholders. In addition to being part of Energy Foundation’s Policy Program, Ryan is a member of the States and Regions Team, a cross-program team that brings together campaign, policy, and communications experts focused on making progress in the states. 

Ryan previously worked at David Gardiner and Associates, an Arlington-based consulting firm, where he informed multi-million-dollar investment decisions by analyzing companies’ off-balance sheet risks and opportunities, including climate and energy programs, environmental management, and corporate sustainability. Prior to his work as a consultant, he was a contractor for the U.S. Department of State, supporting the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate, and worked for the World Resources Institute as well as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Ryan earned a B.A. in International Relations and Hispanic Studies from The College of William and Mary, and an M.A. in Global Environmental Policy from the American University School of International Service.
