Our comprehensive approach advances energy efficiency and renewable energy in the power, transportation, and buildings sectors. Working together, our Policy program focuses on developing innovative policies to help propel clean energy development in these sectors, while our Strategic Communications Program develops powerful narrative and communications strategies designed to build support for our work regionally and nationwide. Our States and Regions Team is a cross-disciplinary team of policy, communications, and campaign experts dedicated to advancing strong state and regional climate and clean energy policies.

Energy Foundation’s founding office is in San Francisco, CA, with regional offices in Raleigh, NC; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC; and Las Vegas, NV.

Position Summary

Energy Foundation seeks a dynamic, self-starter to join our Finance team as a Revenue Analyst. The Revenue Analyst will be responsible for supporting the preparation of budgets and reports, processing and tracking all revenue, and supporting internal and external special requests related to grant awards and grantmaking.

ThRevenue Analyst works in close collaboration with Strategic Partnerships, Grants, and Programs.

Reports to

The Revenue Analyst reports to the Senior Director of Finance. 

Responsibilities

Funder Reporting

  • Work collaboratively with Strategic Partnerships and Program staff in the production of funder proposal budgets and performance reports. 
  • Track expected payment receipt dates and support Strategic Partnerships staff on outreach for payments.  
  • Maintain funder records in appropriate electronic systems in cooperation with Strategic Partnerships.  
  • Support the creation of standardized, automated funder reports from business analytics (reporting) tools.
  • Reconcile program spending per grants management reports to accounting records  

Revenue Recordkeeping

  • Make cash deposits, record all revenue, account receivable, and/or gain/loss entries in NetSuite, the foundation’s accounting system. 
  • Provide firstlevel review of the bank reconciliation process.
  • Track the annual schedule for temporarily restricted funds by time and purpose and take the lead on the audit schedule.
  • Maintain the Program budget in grants management software.
  • Report revenue performance (forecast vs. budget) and Board authority requests and authorizations.
  • Create and produce fundrelated materials for Board of Directors meeting. 

Other Accounting Duties

  • Cross-train on finance and related functions, as needed. 
  • Act as backup on accounts payable and payroll, as needed. 
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Controller or the Senior Director of Finance.

Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in an accounting role. 
  • Nonprofit accounting experience preferred, particularly revenue recognition.  
  • Advanced skills in accounting software, preferably Netsuite. 
  • Technical skills: intermediate or advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, preferably in a Mac environment; familiarity with Salesforce for relationship management preferred. 
  • Multitasking: experience supporting multiple and sometimes competing priorities and tasks for one or more individuals in a team environment.
  • Excellent communications skills: written, verbal and digital

Work Environment

The Energy Foundation is located in the Bently Reserve building in San Francisco, a LEED certified establishment, easily accessible via public transportation. The office environment is a typical office, with moderate noise levels, shared kitchen facilities, and a collegial atmosphere. This position resides in open shared office space. On occasion, there are activities or events after work hours. Occasional travel may be required.
