Cynthia is an intern with Energy Foundation’s Strategic Partnerships team. She supports communications projects—such as creating content for the website, brand development and promotion, and blogging—and also assists with research and analysis, donor engagement, data management, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
Cynthia gained a passion for sustainability and environmental justice issues through her involvement with local and national environmental nonprofits. During her time with Canopy, she helped to advocate for urban forestry in her local community by leading volunteer groups and helping to recruit potential volunteers by writing blog posts. She also has taught under-resourced middle school students about the values of sustainability through gardening and cooking. Last summer, Cynthia worked for the Sierra Club’s Advancement department conducting philanthropic research. She was responsible for using organizational databases for donor identification, solicitation, and profiling, as well as helping to create a more systematic approach to ranking prospects in multiple portfolios. The donor research that she conducted was presented to Advancement staff, who then stewarded major donors in the West Coast region.
