Jason Barbose

Program Director, West Policy

As the Program Director, West Policy, Jason fosters development of clean energy and climate policies and strategies in the West, a high-potential region for achieving meaningful policy progress. Working closely with the West regional team, regional and state consultants, and EF’s other policy experts, Jason develops and funds policy strategies that will achieve ambitious, equitable, and regionally aligned policy goals in the power, transportation, climate, industry, and building sectors. He also works with internal and external partners to continually evaluate policies based on emissions-reduction potential, technical and market viability, collaboration prospects, and other criteria important to securing durable and equitable clean energy and climate progress.

Most recently, Jason was the Interim Western States Director with the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), where he oversaw the implementation of UCS’s western states work. Jason also served as the Western States Policy Manager at UCS and managed policy advocacy, government relationships, and campaign activities. Prior to that, he coordinated the San Francisco Department of the Environment’s work to promote solar energy in the building sector.
