Margrethe Kearney

Program Director, Midwest Policy

Margrethe develops and funds policy strategies that will achieve ambitious, equitable, and regionally-aligned policy goals in the power, transportation, climate, industry, and building sectors in the Midwest, a high-potential region for achieving meaningful policy progress. She works with internal and external partners to continually evaluate policies based on emissions-reduction potential, technical and market viability, and collaboration prospects important to securing durable and equitable clean energy and climate progress.

Prior to joining EF, Margrethe was a Senior Attorney at the Environmental Law and Policy Center, where she represented clean energy organizations in cases, developed legal and policy strategies for advancing clean energy in Michigan and the Midwest, and highlighted environmental justice concerns in testimony. Margrethe also has worked with Latham & Watkins LLP as both an Associate and Counsel, representing clients in matters relating to climate change and environmental regulation.
