Maria manages all finance, budget, audit, and compliance matters throughout the entirety of the organization. This includes financial management, team and systems management, promoting bank and vendor relationships, financial communications, and financial planning and reporting. Maria takes on a cross-functional role between leadership, the Board and Program, Policy, Communications, and Strategic Partnership teams in each EF location. Maria also leads the Finance team.
Most recently, Maria was the Director, Finance and Operations at Equal Rights Advocates, a nonprofit focused on defending gender justice in employment and education, where she led the transformation of the accounting and finance, human resources, and operations departments. Prior to that, Maria served as the Chief Financial Officer at the Youth Leadership Institute in San Francisco, CA, and led operational improvements and budget growth across the organization. Maria also has held various other operations and finance roles in multiple nonprofit organizations across the San Francisco Bay Area.
