Omer Farooque

Senior Director, Communications, Strategic Partnerships

Omer Farooque leads U.S. Energy Foundation’s communications strategy development and planning for both internal and external audiences in service to EF’s mission, and the field broadly.

He crafts narratives and develops compelling stories to further the organization’s goals and strategies. He integrates brand and reputation management efforts with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) values into Strategic Partnerships, Strategic Communications, and all EF programs and operations. He is the lead on media engagement and on internal and external DEI communications in partnership with others in the organization.

Omer previously served in the Biden Administration as head of Public Affairs, for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where he was senior advisor of strategic communications to the Director. Prior to that, he was the Midwest Regional Communications Director for Energy Media, directing strategies to position equitable clean energy as a top issue for voters in Midwestern states. He also served as a communications strategist for Representative Pramila Jayapal, Hillary for America, Melissa Gilbert for Congress, and Democracy for America.
