Shanna Cleveland

Senior Regional Director, Northeast

Shanna is the Senior Regional Director, Northeast and is based in Massachusetts. Shanna builds public support for climate and clean energy policies in New England, New York, and the Mid Atlantic. Working in close partnership with advocates, allies, and U.S. Energy Foundation policy, campaigns, and communications experts, she develops and funds strategies designed to advance an equitable transition to a clean energy economy. In addition to being part of U.S. Energy Foundation’s Policy Program, Shanna is a member of the States and Regions Team, a cross-program team focused on making progress in the states.

Prior to joining U.S. Energy Foundation, Shanna served as Program Officer, Clean Energy, at the Barr Foundation based in Boston, where she facilitated collaboration between climate advocates, grassroots organizers, state agency officials, health care groups, labor, and industry experts to implement innovative clean energy strategies with an emphasis on community-led solutions centering racial equity and justice. Prior to that she was Senior Counsel to Free Speech for People, crafting new legal and legislative strategies to advance campaign finance reform. Before that, Shanna was Director of the Carbon Asset Risk Initiative at Ceres, and earlier was Acting Program Director, Clean Energy and Climate Change, for Conservation Law Foundation.
